My focus is the design and implementation of human-centered computer technologies. I’m currently a product manager in the Privacy group at Google, where I am a staunch advocate for user privacy and security. Prior to Google I worked at Intel in the Perceptual Computing Technology group. We released a close range depth camera for use with laptops and desktops.
In the past I focused a lot on gesture input for very large (wall sized) display environments, and I did some early work that anticipated the interaction styles of the Wii and Kinect systems. In the even further past I developed web-based mapping systems, social media applications, visualization toolkits, graphics rasterizers and raytracers, and many other things. I received my Ph.D. in human-computer interaction from the University of British Columbia.
